As a Pharma Business Development team member, you will be a core part of the Commercial team at Ginkgo. The business development team is an integral part of a cross-functional team including deal transaction team, IP and legal team, to help develop and deliver deals that reflect the business objectives. This role will be a critical part of growing Ginkgo’s partnerships and impact within therapeutics.
The role will report to the Senior Director of Pharma BD and will work with a cross-functional team comprising business development, deal transaction, IP, legal, and technical program teams throughout all aspects of the proposal and contract execution periods.
Title/level will be determined by education and experience.
Seek new partnership opportunities with companies in coordination with Ginkgo’s broader business development team
Lead collaboration discussions and deal negotiations with potential partners
Develop and maintain relationships with potential partners
Lead market landscape assessments including key market needs and current participant capabilities across therapeutic modalities to shape the strategy and identify new business opportunity areas for partnerships
Shape the commercial strategy across Therapeutic and vaccine applications
Collaborate with business development, Growth and Creative teams to develop externally focused messaging for conferences and partnering discussions
Travel as necessary
Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, and/or science
Title/level will be based on your experience and education
Must have business development experience in therapeutics
Strong analytical skills, with an ability to develop fact-based and informed opinions
Understanding of the synthetic biology and biotechnology industry and its applications
Ability to understand different parts of the Ginkgo platform and pitch new applications in therapeutics and vaccine markets that could benefit industry
Passion for collaboration and significant experience in relationship-building, and leveraging and converting market knowledge and relationships into business opportunities
Motivation and ability to innovate while working towards Ginkgo’s goals
Excellent communication skills, emotional intelligence and an ability to work across organizational boundaries
Eagerness to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment and enthusiasm to be a part of Ginkgo’s mission
