The Shipping Associate / Backup Driver will report to the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor and be responsible for ensuring shipments are on time for customer deliveries and pick-ups. In this role, you will provide customer service by handling customer inquiries and complaints from clients. You will conduct pre-shipment quality evaluations to ensure the highest quality of shipments and follow standard shipping guidelines for each customer. You will be comfortable using an electric fork lift to stage product to the shipping dock, including shrink-wrapping all pallets (after training). As Backup Driver, you will serve in the absence of the current Route Driver as needed to transport and deliver items to clients/businesses in a safe and timely manner.

Shipping Associate Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating with packaging team to ensure shipments are on time for customer deliveries and pick up’s
  • Using FIFO rotation for inventory
  • Conducting daily finished goods inventory and inputting into ERP system
  • Following all policies and procedures to ship product out to customer
  • Using computer to input finished goods inventory, product losses, and email communication from Sales team on orders
  • Inputting inventory and create invoices in SAGE ERP system
  • Conducting CCP of metal detection daily
  • Organizing all paperwork for CCP, pre-ship evaluation, and invoices
  • Ensuring all samples are packed out and of highest quality and ready in finished goods cooler
  • Ensuring all product is shipping in timely manner
  • Completing 95% or above picking rate
  • Shrink wrapping all pallets and using electric fork lift to stage product to shipping dock
  • Ensuring all incoming customer’s trucks are within temperature specification and cleanliness guidelines
  • Providing superior customer service skills when dealing with customers picking up product
  • Ensuring all product is organized in finished goods cooler
  • Ensuring each product has a quality retain
  • Covering for full-time driver’s if they are on PTO
  • Assisting with replenishing of raw materials in and out of storage and controlling inventory of raw materials

Back Up Driving Responsibilities:

  • Loading, transporting, and delivering items to clients or businesses in a safe, timely manner.
  • Adhering to assigned routes and following time schedules.
  • Abiding by all transportation laws and maintaining a safe driving record.
  • Operating equipment and machines, such as cars, trucks, forklifts, etc.
  • Preparing reports and other documents relating to deliveries.
  • Reviewing orders before and after delivery to ensure that orders are complete, the charges are correct, and the customer is satisfied.
  • Providing excellent customer service, answering questions, and handling complaints from clients.
  • Assisting with loading and unloading items from vehicles.

You Have:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid New Jersey license.
  • Clean driving record.
  • 6 months prior experience in shipping/receiving preferred
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and speak basic English (required)
  • Ability to work in a cold environment (<40F) for long periods of time
  • Availability to work weekends is a must
  • Ability to respect and maintain confidential information
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to drive electric forklift after training
  • Ability o work independently and within a team
  • Time management skills to meet certain deadlines for shipping
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good basic math skills; ability to use scales, calculators, and computer
  • Completion of the driving program is a plus.
  • CDL a plus, but not required.
  • Experience driving box truck highly desired.**
  • Willingness to adhere to assigned routes, schedules, safety procedures, and transportation laws.
  • Strong time management and customer service skills.
