In response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, we have launched a new service: Concentric by Ginkgo
. We firmly believe that testing is an essential requirement to re-open the economy as quickly and safely as possible. Concentric is the largest domestic provider of K-12 COVID-19 testing. We currently run state-level K-12 testing programs in more than 10 states and some of the nation’s largest school districts. To date, Concentric has sequenced more than 10,000 samples from a variety of sample types, in support of public health. As we continue to scale Concentric by Ginkgo, our work is also evolving and expanding into new and exciting directions.
As we continue to grow we are looking to bring on a Government Relations Director who can help to lead public relations and government engagement at the federal, state, and local level.
As a leader supporting our Government Relations team, you will be a core part of the Concentric by Ginkgo team as we continue to grow. You will work with internal teams across our Delivery, Communications, and Business Development departments, as well as external partners and consultants, to develop and execute our Government Relations priorities. Your strategic thinking, understanding of government relations, and communications experience will help our state and national programs succeed. Your role will be varied and high impact, and a critical part of our national solution in the relief efforts for COVID-19. Come join our dynamic, passionate and collaborative team!
Please note: This position is based in DC, with quarterly travel likely to our Boston Seaport offices, and as needed, travel to program locations for key meetings and events.
Work with VP, Operations to build strategic priorities for government engagement across the business
Track and manage relationships with key government stakeholders (state, local, and federal)
Support Concentric State & Regional Leads, Business Development teams, and Delivery teams in managing relationships with key government stakeholders
Represent Concentric in meetings with external stakeholders, clearly explaining program operations and business objectives
Manage consultant and lobbyist teams; set priorities and milestones, holding teams accountable
Manage budget, including developing quarterly projections and tracking spending
As needed, travel on-site to project/program locations for key meetings and events
Work cross-functionally, collaborating across teams within Concentric to execute projects, events, etc.
Support other team priorities adjacent to Government Relations; maintain an adaptable mindset as priorities and circumstances evolve!
Contribute to the Concentric culture
8+ years of experience in government, politics, and/or communications
Experience managing a team as well as external partnerships and/or consulting teams
Proven track record of project ownership and results orientation in a team setting; demonstrated leadership ability
Strong communication skills with the ability to speak with C-level clients
Strong quantitative skills and negotiations ability
Preferred Capabilities and Experience
MBA or relevant master’s degree in public policy or government affairs, preferred
Direct Government, Government Relations, or Political experience highly preferred
Business Development, Consulting, Operations, Platform Sales experience helpful
Excellent communication skills, emotional intelligence, and an ability to work across organizational boundaries
Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
