Geltor is looking for a talented Downstream Process (DSP)Engineer to join our growing team in San Leandro, CA. The DSP Engineer I/II will provide technical oversight and operational support in Geltor’s pilot facility. This role will work closely with key stakeholders across Geltor’s organization to design, execute, and analyze downstream pilot experiments in support of process development, product prototype generation, and technology deployment preparedness.

Responsibilities

Help create and foster a safety-first culture in Geltor’s pilot plant.

Support downstream process development, prototype generation, and manufacturing scale-down experiments in Geltor’s downstream product recovery and purification pilot suite.

Analyze and present pilot experimental data and communicate results to stakeholders.

Interact across multiple functional groups, including Fermentation, Recovery, Pilot Plant, Deployment, Analytical, Quality, and Regulatory.

Develop and implement new tools and capabilities in Geltor’s pilot plant to support DSP process scale-down/scale-up.

Develop and implement new tools and capabilities in Geltor’s pilot plant to improve operational excellence and experimental execution.

Draft and update SOPs, batch records, and production plans.

Assist with equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.

Requirements

Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.

Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and application to bioprocesses.

Some hands-on experience operating lab, pilot, or production scale product recovery unit ops.

Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of process control hardware/software preferred.

Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to multi-task.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Must be willing and able to work well in a dynamic team environment.

Strong desire to learn new skill sets.

Strong analytical, data interpretation, and problem-solving capabilities to think critically about complex problems.

An eagerness to do hands-on work in a pilot plant environment.

Ability to travel to support technology deployment projects at partner sites (<20%).

Enthusiasm for and commitment to Geltor’s mission and values.
