About the role
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating production and fulfillment operations ensuring that our direct-to-consumer quality products are prepared for delivery to our customers.  The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader, has a roll-up your sleeves approach, has a positive attitude, works to empower and motivate their team, and thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment.  
Thistle is expanding rapidly and this role will directly contribute to defining and executing our path forward and our future success as a company.  The Production Supervisor will have the opportunity to build, train, and develop a team while also collaborating with management on improving operations.
What you’ll do

Supervising Production Operations

  • Supervise, train, and coach the production team regarding attendance and productivity performance, ensuring successful production operations
  • Coordinate required staff and schedules for production activities accounting for callouts, emergencies, etc. as they come up
  • Audit and approve timesheets and related information required for accurate payroll for team members
  • Reinforce structure for the team by helping to identify and establish new SOP’s and key metrics to evaluate team performance
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and People Operations to recruit and train additions to the team with a focus on retention
  • Be very hands-on and willing to “get your hands dirty” working alongside the team, and prioritizing tight deadlines
  • Safety & Departmental Compliance

  • Maintain accurate records and data pertaining to COVID-19 policy and Food Safety compliance
  • Ensure all OSHA standards are met and adhered to by all team members
  • Partner with management and People Operations to ensure compliance with organizational standards and policies related to labor laws including wages, hours, and working conditions
  • Provide critical feedback pertaining to safety and compliance to all reports on a consistent basis; identify and execute training needs
  • Proactively identify areas for improvement in equipment and team needs and collaborate with management on executing rapid solutions
  • Work cross-functionally with Production, Fulfillment, and Logistics to ensure proper receiving, handoffs, QA, and other organizational GMPs and standards
  • Ensure accuracy of manifests and documentation logs, and ensure all team members understand their functionalities
  • Perform consistent production area audits and conduct regular shift meetings to ensure compliance with GMP, Food Safety, and safety regulations
  • What you’ll bring

  • 2+ years’ experience in manufacturing or production with at least 2+ years of supervisory experience required; food manufacturing experience preferred
  • A people-oriented approach focused on support and fairness for the team
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting and managing facilities maintenance; basic skills to make emergency repairs
  • Solid working knowledge of OSHA and organizational compliance standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; must be a team player with an interest in continuously learning leadership development skills
  • A dynamic personality with a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude, maintaining grace under pressure
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects, tasks, and responsibilities
  • Ability to successfully meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail, quality of service and product, and our company mission and values
  • Tech-savvy approach with everyday tasks and communication; comfortable with G-Suite (specifically Google Sheets), and Slack
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds

  • The person in this role will be empowered to bring new innovative concepts to life on an ongoing basis
  • This is a “hands-on” role and will require a physical presence in our facility while maintaining direct accountability and understanding of production operations
  • The schedule will be dictated by the needs of the team and operations; the person in this role should expect to work nights and weekends as Thistle primarily delivers on Sunday evening/nights, early Monday mornings, Wednesday evening/nights, and early Thursday mornings
  • The person in this role will need to be comfortable with a physically demanding position with the ability to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, reach, and lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally; willingness to work in a refrigerated environment (35-40 degrees) is required
