Foundry Lead, Protein Characterization 25 views

Boston, MA

Our mission is to make biology easier to engineer. Ginkgo is constructing, editing, and redesigning the living world to answer global challenges in health, energy, food, materials, and more. Ginkgo bioengineers make use of an in-house automated foundry for designing and building new organisms.
Whether they are the final product or the catalysts for an engineered process, proteins lie at the center of many strain engineering efforts. The Protein Characterization team operates at the intersection of Protein Engineering, High-throughput Screening, Fermentation, and Downstream Processing to help assess the proteins that are so central to the mission at Ginkgo. These proteins run the gamut, including biosynthetic enzymes, molecular biology reagents, food proteins, and more. We utilize the latest software and automation to develop methods for protein purification and kinetic/biophysical characterization, with an emphasis on throughput.
As a Foundry Lead for the Protein Characterization team you will have the opportunity to use your protein biochemistry and management expertise at a growing company in a state-of-the-art facility. You will interface with internal and external partners to plan projects, including forecasting the volume of demand and allocating the team’s resources towards multiple projects. As the team lead, you will lead the team towards increasing capacity to handle larger volumes of the protein services. You will also guide the career development of Protein Characterization team members and be responsible for hiring new talent.
We are looking for someone who is excited about the promise of synthetic biology and is willing to develop new tools to unlock the promise of making biology easier to engineer.
