The Global Field Sciences team provides in-field product performance characterization, uses world-class scientific standards, delivers decisive, reliable data across all relevant crops and regions to many stakeholders. The team provides data-based decision support, drives product selection, informs high quality regulatory dossiers for product registration, and performance data sales support that meets customer needs. The Global Field Sciences team focuses on internal and external customers alike, using great communication, respect and a focus on safety and quality.
Responsibilities

Owns and constantly optimizes Global Field Science Operations end-to-end:

  • Accountable for seasonal planning, protocol generation and trial placement in cross functional cooperation with product management, the data science team, regional field science leads, and other internal teams
  • Accountable for global contracting process with Contract Research Organizations (CRO) in cooperation with the legal team 
  • Responsible for in-season project management, including quality assurance and optimizes Statements of Work (SOW) every cycle based on learnings
  • Supervises small plot or machine data capture from CROs (after planting, mid-season, after harvest) and other data providers (e. g. soil sampling, remote sensing) as required per the SOW 
  • Supervises small plot or machine data capture from commercial or academic cooperators in coordination with regional commercial teams as agreed internally and documented in respective Material Transfer Agreements (MTA) 
  • Accountable for timely data upload into ARMDB, world class quality control and expedited submission to data science teams
  • Is the primary cross-functional contact for the operational implementation of approved strategic projects, e.g.

  • Implementation of new trial formats like field screening assays or next generation customer demonstration trialing
  • Implementation of trial site selection aided by remote sensing
  • Implementation of sub-field small-plot trial placement
  • Translation of requirements from product management and data science teams into trialing protocols
  • People Leadership

  • Leads a team of trial QA coordinators and data QC specialists
  • Key Competencies

  • Has in-depth understanding of agronomy and is grounded in relevant trialing best practices 
  • Derives deep insights from large and potentially complex field trial results
  • Is an expert in leading global operations as well as cross-functional projects
  • Is passionate about staying current on new practices and technologies, and sets the direction of their projects accordingly
  • Has experience with the creation of regulatory bio-efficacy dossiers
  • Experienced working in multinational and multicultural organization(s)
  • Ability to connect the business needs with technical input and output
  • Ability to iterate, learn and adapt quickly; extremely agile
  • Ability to gain consensus working collaboratively and cross functionally with internal and external parties
  • Understands their impact to the success of the Biologicals business
  • Is extremely organized, obsessive about quality and has a passion for data
  • Qualifications

  • 5-10 years’ work experience in field trialing, results interpretation and project management
  • Advanced degree in agronomy or a related field, MSc preferred, PhD a plus
  • Proven track record of working with business partners and technical partners to design, deliver, and improve on efficient operations
  • Experience in managing complex programs with a team of regional peers
  • Proven ability to manage a high-performing operations team
  • Experience overseeing complex data pipeline processes a plus
  • This role is home-based in one of Indigo’s key markets with a preference for the United States, some travel to be expected
