About the Role:

As an HRBP at AppHarvest, you will be joining a team at the forefront of reinventing sustainable agriculture for a better future.  In this role, you will be responsible for creating, updating, and applying all HR policies and company guidelines at the local Farm Facility. You will focus on creating a culture where the best practices are followed, communicated, and enforced to facilitate a positive and motivating work environment for team members. This individual is seen as a partner to the Farm leadership team, as well as an expert on all things HR for the Farm.

What You’ll Do:

  • Work collaboratively with Farm leadership and team members to ensure HR policies are effectively communicated, implemented, and followed
  • Provide support to the General Manager (GM) of the Farm on all HR initiatives including (but not limited to): hiring and retention, engagement, policy, team member support and feedback, training, employee relations
  • Primary point of contact for HR needs at the Farm
  • Responsible for ensuring all timecard, payroll, and compensation requirements are met on provided timelines
  • Clearly communicating with Farm management performance management expectations and disciplinary actions for team members
  • Creating onboarding plans and educating newly hired employees on HR policies, internal procedures, and regulations
  • Able to provide general guidance when needed for employee insurance and benefits
  • Maintaining physical and digital files for employees and their documents, benefits, and attendance records
  • Act as a local liaison for all employment-related questions and inquiries from Farm team members
  • Creating employee engagement plans, getting necessary budget approval, and initiating activities
  • Taking appropriate disciplinary action against employees who violate rules and regulations and addressing employee grievances
  • Provide guidance and senior-level support to the on-site HR Coordinator

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, and/or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of general HR experience, preferably working with a production or manufacturing workforce
  • SHRM or PHR Certifications preferred
  • Experience with employee relations, training, employment, employment equity program, talent development, performance management, and all phases of the employee life cycle
  • Knowledge of the entire talent system and each stage of the employee life cycle and applies that understanding to craft integrated solutions that are thoughtful and reinforced by upstream and downstream talent programs
  • Strong interpretation of broader business goals and ability to recommend innovative solutions, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in business objectives, productivity, and development of HR within the company
