Atlast Food Co. is seeking an Industrial Line Cook to join our team to support weekly production of bacon samples. Ideal candidates will have experience coordinating the preparation and production of sample products under an outlined preparation procedure.

The quickest way to reduce emissions from animal agriculture is to address the whole cut portion of the meat market (think steak and bacon instead of hamburger and sausage). Whole cuts are the harder part of the market to address with plant-based solutions. In order to get the texture and mouthfeel of a steak, it’s necessary to have structure. The easier route is to focus on ground meatless products which rely on high-temperature, high-pressure extrusion methods. The reality is this is not enough. The world needs a meatless whole-cut alternative, and fast.  Atlast Food Co. produces a delicious meatless bacon that is high in protein, rich in nutrients, and is the world’s first meatless bacon that tastes just like bacon.

THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PERFORMED IN THIS ROLE INCLUDE:

  • Preparation and production of sample products under an outlined preparation procedure

  • Pick up and transportation of raw materials to a 3rd party production kitchen

  • Assist with the preparation of raw ingredients

  • Prepare food items by cutting, chopping, mixing and preparing sauces

  • Cook food items by grilling, frying, sauteing, and other cooking methods to specifics recipes and standards

  • Maintain cleanliness and comply with food sanitation requirements by properly handling food and ensuring correct storage

  • Process and package ingredients into finished samples

  • Prepare samples for shipping and/or transportation to our product storage location

  • Set up and stock food items and other necessary supplies

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Food production experience in a culinary or manufacturing environment, preferably with produce and/or vegetarian products

  • Comfortable with the industrial kitchen environment

  • Excited about the meat alternative market with the ability to compare traditional products to alternative meat products.  We may be able to make an exception for a vegan or vegetarian, but a flexitarian would be a great fit for this role

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation

  • Comfortable working around sharp knives, deli slicers, stoves, ovens, and industrial dishwashers

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • ServSafe and/or HACCP/HARPC certifications preferred

  • Culinary Arts or Food Science degree preferred

  • NYS Driver’s license and reliable transportation to transport raw materials and finished product
