About the role
We are looking for a dynamic and problem-solving Mechatronics Engineer to join our Hardware team.  You will be responsible for the mechatronics design of new and existing autonomous vehicle systems through the entire product lifecycle.  You will coordinate with other hardware, software, program management, and business teams to design, implement, and iterate on solutions.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Ownership of the mechatronics technical specification, design, integration, and release of autonomous agriculture vehicle systems.
  • Create mechatronic systems consisting of motors, motor controllers, actuators, and sensors
  • Troubleshoot issues, determine root causes, design and implement corrective and preventative solutions
  • Create and execute test plans, analyze data and work with other teams on how to improve tested systems.
  • Work closely with external partners to devise solutions that meet system goals around safety, performance, and cost.
  • Facilitate technical discussions through all program phases with internal and cross-functional stakeholders and drive escalation where necessary.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional vehicle development leads in engineering (ME, EE, SW), supply chain, program management with the goal of driving alignment on program execution details, planning, and readiness.
  • Work with program management to plan development schedules, builds, and resolve supply chain issues.
  • What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor degree and 5+ years of relevant experience (including Masters/PhD degrees with professional engineering experience)
  • 2+ years of experience in a professional and product driven environment
  • Experience working in low-volume prototype environments. Able to work on the floor with technicians during build events to identify issues, and rapidly iterate solutions.
  • Strong experience with motor controllers, motors, and microcontrollers.
  • Strong experience with sensors such as linear and rotary encoders.
  • Experience with linear actuators, stepper motors
  • Experience with component selection and procurement
  • Startup experience is a major plus
  • Strong communication skills
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn about new technology
  • Able to support periodic domestic and international travel
