The research will focus on using measurements from autonomous saildrones and moored stations to train machine learning algorithms for improved retrieval of the marine boundary structure from satellite remote sensing. The research team also includes members from the NOAA Pacific Marine Environmental Lab (PMEL), Earth System Research Lab (ESRL), and National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP). The successful postdoctoral investigator will have the opportunity to work with data and climate models to study surface energy budgets and air-sea-ice feedbacks in a thawing Arctic.
