Ginkgo Bioworks is a publicly traded (NYSE: $DNA), high-growth biotechnology company based in Boston’s Seaport District, that is redesigning the living world to solve some of the globe’s growing challenges in health, energy, food, material, and more. Our mission to “make biology easier to engineer” is poised to disrupt multiple industries by leveraging our innovative data, automation, and scale capabilities in biological engineering.
In response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, we have launched a new division: Concentric by Ginkgo. We firmly believe that testing is an essential requirement to re-open the economy as quickly and safely as possible. Concentric is the largest provider of K-12 COVID-19 testing. We currently run state-level K-12 testing programs in more than 10 states and some of the nation’s largest school districts. To date, Concentric has sequenced more than 10,000 samples from a variety of sample types, in support of public health. As we continue to scale Concentric by Ginkgo, our work is also evolving and expanding into new and exciting directions.
The Role
You will join a vibrant cross-functional team composed of product managers, engineers, service and physical product designers, and researchers all working to make biosecurity accessible to as many people and communities as possible.
As a digital Product Designer for Concentric by Ginkgo, you will be critical in achieving that objective through great digital experiences. Your expertise in interface design, interaction design, and information architecture will be crucial in providing our different users the information they need, when they need it. You will help design seamless experiences that give users confidence when completing important, detailed, and regulated tasks.
You will help enhance the digital tools that currently power our COVID-19 testing and broader pathogen monitoring offerings. Our digital solutions include Test Center, a custom built platform that has allowed thousands of people to register and report millions of COVID-19 test results for their communities around the country. We’ve also worked with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to build reporting platforms and dashboards that keep our government aware of emerging trends.
Concentric is now exploring possibilities that can scale biosecurity even further, including passive and environmental monitoring, animal population monitoring, and consumer facing experiences that make pathogen monitoring as intuitive as checking the weather. Our goal across all of these interfaces and users is to make biosecurity accessible and understandable, so that we can support communities in being bio-resilient.
