New York, NY
Founded in 2015, Bowery Farming is on a mission to democratize access to high-quality, local, safe and sustainable produce. We build smart indoor farms near cities, growing fresher, pesticide-free Protected Produce with bold flavor in precisely controlled environments, 365 days a year. At the heart of each farm is the proprietary BoweryOS, which integrates software, hardware, sensors, AI, computer vision systems, machine learning models, and robotics to orchestrate and automate the entirety of its operations. As a result, each farm creates far less waste and uses a fraction of the water and land compared to traditional agriculture. About the Role:
As a Product Manager at Bowery, you’ll be responsible for creating and executing technology strategies that support our vision of building and operating a network of smart indoor farms. This is a once-in-a-career opportunity to revolutionize a multi-millennium-old institution and tackle some of the toughest challenges facing our planet – water scarcity, food security, and pesticide use among them.
You’ll steer our Software, Robotics, Automation, Hardware, and Data technology teams to bring priorities to life. You’ll dig deeply to understand root causes and recommend solutions. Your planning cycles will be continuous, and represent the evolving needs of Bowery’s dynamic business as well as your stakeholders. You’ll play a key role in helping Bowery scale from a local community of farms to a technology-powered network that operates and optimizes autonomously.
The Product Manager role will support Bowery’s operational and commercial goals across existing and future farms. In this role, you’ll define technology solutions that improve farm throughput and order fulfillment. This includes expanding the BoweryOS, our proprietary technology platform that manages our farms, to automate operational decisions; developing data products that help us balance supply and demand; and supporting new innovation that enables our sales teams to reach more retailers (and their customers!).
This is a hybrid role. While we offer flexibility to work from home during the week, you’ll also be expected to join us at our headquarters in NYC part time, as well as occasionally visit our farms in Baltimore, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey to get to know your end users and product opportunity space.
We encourage you to apply even if this is your first time launching robotics, IoT, and smart farming solutions (for most of us this is true!) but you are excited about the space and the opportunity to implement creative decision making.
