We are looking for a Quality Control Technician to join our team.  This role will be responsible for ensuring consistent production quality by enforcing good manufacturing practice systems, validating processes, performing audits, handling system improvements, and providing documentation. This role will report to the Quality Supervisor on a full-time schedule.

Here are the things we want to hire you to do:

  • Monitor and verify daily quality compliance of Oatbase & Finished Products by following appropriate analytical methods & SOPs.
  • Perform daily pre-operational and operational plant inspections; authorize or not, the start of processing operations in conjunction with the production department.
  • Continuously monitor that the site follows all required Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Ensure quality compliance of all raw materials, ingredients, packaging materials, products in process, and finished products to specifications.
  • Perform all required laboratory analyses & tests, such as pH, Total Solids, Viscosity, Density, Moisture, Temperature & related procedures on Oatbase & Finished Products, along with APC, Yeast and Mold micro testing.
  • Review & maintain all required Quality Control logs, Forms, Checklists and other important records on a daily basis.
  • Inventory management of Lab supplies, lab chemicals & and related items.
  • Enter test results on lab data system (LIMS) and generate reports.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, and Purchasing department to resolve supplier quality issues on raw materials.
  • Ensure and maintain working condition of all lab instruments that are being used for routine and non-routine sample testing, including troubleshooting of issues and calibrations of instruments.
  • Conduct timely root cause analysis and enforce improvements to process controls.
  • Perform Sanitation Verification (ATP), environmental and allergen control swabbing to support plant operations.
  • Communicate raw material and product quality issues to the Management Team.
  • Creation of Certificate of Analysis (COAs) for product release and utilize site ERP system (D365).
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Plant Quality Leads, Quality Supervisors or the Quality & Food Safety Manager.
  • Here are the things we think you need:

  • Must be 18 years or older with the ability to read, write and speak English specific to work instructions including but not limited to safety purposes
  • High school, GED, or equivalent diploma required
  • 2-4 years schooling in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology, or related fields preferred   
  • 1+ years of industry experience
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong mathematics skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Superior communication skills
  • Excellent organization skills, and abilities to make decisions on quality issues
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force at times and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body
  • Ability to work in cold and hot environments (approximately 38F-80F degrees)
  • Ability to be mobile in accomplishing tasks and or moving from one worksite (up to 1-mile range) to another this could include but not be limited to in-plant departments, (Shipping- Receiving, Production, etc.) and/or to Oatly’s 3rd party warehouse
  • Ability to repeat motions that may include use of the wrists, hands and/or fingers, and standing or sitting for prolonged periods (average 8-12 hours)
