About the role:

As our HR Generalist, you’ll provide comprehensive human resources support to all MyForest Foods employees in a variety of functional areas. You’ll report to—and collaborate directly with—our Chief People Officer. As for knowledge, you know the ins and outs of HR. Things like employment laws (local, state, federal…) and don’t forget wage/hour laws, too. You know a lot about staffing and employment practices, employee relations procedures and laws that relate.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive HR support directly and indirectly—to MyForest Foods’ managers and employees in a variety of HR functional areas

  • Build credible relationships with employees and managers allowing for better decisions and organizational effectiveness

  • Ensure organizational compliance with current and evolving federal, state and local human resource related laws including posters, policies, updates to employee handbook, and company-wide communications

  • Assure company policies are administered fairly and consistently throughout the area of responsibility

  • Support performance, key performance indicator (KPI), and goals process, including but not limited to distribution of performance tools, collection and tracking, and partnering with managers to provide support where applicable

  • Provide support to managers and employees employee relations items.  Partner with the HR team on planning around addressing employee relations items

  • Communicate pulse of organization and recommendations to the CPO to drive a happy, developing, high-performance work environment

  • Coordinate and administer leave and insurance programs, including FMLA, PFL, ADA, DBL, workers compensation, and other leaves and pay protection programs ensuring support of employees in need of leave, compliance with state and federal leave requirements, development of policies and procedures associated with leaves, and communicating leave activity to the CPO

  • Document HR processes and procedures

  • Conduct workplace investigations as necessary

  • Maintain HRIS database, including entering all new employee data, process changes and updates, and report generation as necessary

  • Perform benefits administration activities including—but not limited to—set up of new employees, change reporting, oversight of open enrollment activities, facilitation of claims resolution, benefits information sharing, participation in employee benefits planning and design, and providing resources and guidance as requested by employees

  • Foster relationships with MyForest Foods’ benefits broker and third-party carriers to ensure the highest level of support and problem resolution, ease of electronic administration and on-line enrollments for employees, open enrollment support and on-site meeting coordination, access and communication of important benefits offerings, etc.

  • Maintain and update the employee centric systems, records, and reports (i.e. HRIS interface, employee files, I-9 files, benefits portals, shared drives, employee directory, etc) including policies and procedures, organizational chart, events, notices, calendar, and forms, etc. Ensure compliance, accuracy of data, proper filing, and maintaining confidentiality of records

  • Respond to requests for employment verification by third parties

  • In partnership with the HR team, host training and learning sessions around policies, procedures, benefits programs, and other related HR items

  • Process timely and accurate payroll, download and share appropriate payroll data, run and present reports as necessary

  • Process employee documentation including but not limited to payroll changes, compliance documentation, promotion letters, and other employee related documentation

  • Pull reports as necessary to support data analysis and audits

  • Assist in the execution of compensation program including merit reviews and increases, maintenance of compensation structure, processing of bonuses and bonus programs, and routine or special requests

  • Assist in the annual HR budget planning process as needed

  • Provide as needed support of other core functional areas including talent acquisition, on-boarding, employee engagement, and training and development

  • Give and receive feedback

  • Demonstrate alignment with company values

  • Other ad-hoc duties and projects from time to time and based on business needs

Minimum qualifications/competencies (The must-haves)

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or related field

  • Minimum of 4 years’ of generalist human resource experience

  • Experience maintaining and HRIS and processing payroll

  • 2 years of ADP Payroll experience

  • Experience in a variety of computer and software applications (Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, Slack HRIS) with ability to adapt to new technologies

  • Demonstrated experience overseeing employee leave management

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in professional capacity

  • Experience in a high growth, high development focused organization with demonstrated experience working on HR teams focused on driving high performance teams


  • Strong understanding of local, state and federal employment laws and procedures with ability to adapt laws across a multi-state employee base

  • Strong understanding of wage and hour laws
