About the role

Plenty is seeking a self-motivated individual to assume responsibilities as a Research Technician Intern on the Grower Team. This position will primarily support testing hypotheses that will provide Growers the knowledge and tools to creatively manage plant health at a production scale. The Plenty Grower Team will provide training in Plenty’s unique growing strategies, hydroponic crop production, basic experimental design, data sheet production and organization, accurate data collection, and basic data analysis.

What you'll do


  • Support and help conduct research that will enhance the performance of Plenty’s newest production facilities
  • Research will fall under several categories: flexible orchestration, yield optimization, and integrated pest management

Grower Plant Production Support

  • As needed, assist the Grower Team by completing daily grower tasks in our South San Francisco production farm 
  • These activities include but are not limited to: mixing nutrients, calibrating sensors, cleaning systems and containers, collecting nutrient solution and tissue samples

What you'll bring to the table

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, crop science, biology, natural resources, or a similar research-oriented discipline
  • Analytically inclined with the ability to use Google’s office suite (Sheets, Docs, and Slides) to collect and analyze data, and present results
  • Creative, self-motivated, self-driven, fast learner, positive attitude and able to motivate others
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and methods
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining close communication and collaborative work relationships
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Goal-oriented mindset; ability to stay focused and flexible

Type of role

Internship – 89 days

Food safety requirements

  • Comply with all Plant, State and Federal OSHA, EPA, FDA, HACCP, and SQF regulations
  • All employees must show proof of COVID vaccination before starting work, other than in limited circumstances where the law requires an exception
  • Comply with GMP/GAPS in the Facility
  • Conduct monitoring activities to assure finished product comply with food safety and quality specifications
  • Assist in the maintenance of Food Safety and Quality system
