We are looking for an Analytical Chemist to perform method development and sample analysis to support product and process development. In this position, you will bring expertise in VOCs methods of analysis to provide flavor analyses of poducts and product ingredients. In addition, this position will be involved in other methods of analysis and method development as needed for various projects. The Analytical Chemistry laboratory at Eat Just provides support for both JUST Egg and GOOD Meat, offering the opportunity to work directly with both product families and R&D groups.

What You’ll do

  • Develop and implement methods of analysis for VOCs using GCMS;
  • Perform routine VOC sample analysis;
  • Perform stastical analysis of large data sets;
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair GC instruments;
  • Document and report analytical data to other R&D teams and in regulatory filings;
  • Work collaboratively with other teams including Bioprocessing, Process Science, Food Science, and Product Development;
  • Summarize and report data including method development efforts through written and presentation formats in collaborative meetings with other R&D groups;
  • Maintenance of notebook records, sample databases, standard operating procedures, and other documentation;
  • Always conduct work in a safe manner, consistent with best practices in laboratory safety and environmental stewardship guidelines;
  • Maintain a safe and organized lab environment;
  • Perform additional laboratory duties as required to support R&D and company projects

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field; PhD with 0+ years experience, MS with 6+ years experience, or BS with 8+ years experience;
  • Experienced in analytical method development, qualifications, and validations;
  • Expertise in GCMS instrumentation;
  • Ability to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot GCMS instruments;
  • Experience with GC-FID instrumentation and methods;
  • Experience with statistical and multivariate analysis;
  • Knowledge of food chemistry and analytical methods of analysis of food products a plus;
  • Strong data documentation, presentation, and communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently with strong critical thinking, time management and organizational skills;
  • Excellent attention to detail, ability to maintain accurate records, and an affinity for troubleshooting;
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, diverse, and fast-paced environment;

Additional Information & Requirements

This is a regular full-time role reporting to our headquarters in Alameda, CA.

This position will be expected to be 100% onsite.
