Senior Design Project Manager 24 views

New York, NY

Hello potential future Oatly employee. It’s us, the original oatmilk company that started in Sweden back 25 or so years ago and has since expanded to the U.S. where we’ve continued growing at a rate such that we need more brilliant minds to come to work with us to keep the momentum going and the oatmilk flowing.

Sustainability, health, and transparency are the core values that guide everything we do. Basically, we exist to make it easy for people to eat better and live healthier lives without recklessly taxing the planet’s resources in the process.  If any of this resonates with you, then maybe you’d like work for Oatly, too.

The Oatly Department of Mind Control (ODMC) is looking for a Senior Design Project Manager, reporting into the Director of Project Management, North America. This is hybrid/remote role based in the USA, preferably in the EST time zone and will require you to travel to NYC regularly for team meetings.

As the Senior Design PM, you will collaborate with our Design Director to manage the workflow of all job requests and executions.
You will be the point of contact and gate keeper for the design team and work closely with E-commerce, Commercial, Retail, Foodservice and Coffee teams to ensure they are supported in their creative efforts. You will also act as a point of contact for external creative partners when required.

It is imperative that you take pride in creating environments for making great work within the Oatly organization and outside partners. Your ability to create effective relationships will be directly proportional to your success in this role.
The Senior Design PM is the oil in the creative machine and the one who shepherds momentum across all design projects within Oatly.

Most importantly, you will need to care about the environmental crisis that our planet faces and feel energized to make actual measurable change happen.

Here are the things we want to hire you to do:

  • Deliver innovative and strong management for the development and execution of design projects while anchoring a human-centric focus to the role
  • Act as the hub and traffic controller for all design briefs that are submitted to ODMC by the wider Oatly organization (Commercial and People & Talent teams)
  • Work in lockstep with senior designers to staff, resource, and prioritize all the monthly requests
  • Own the flow of work, tidy file management, share- outs and feedback between the design team and requester
  • When necessary, support Oatly campaign work with design resourcing and tracking
  • Be an active participant and ODMC rep in core standing meetings with other Oatly teams.
  • Develop smart creative workflows in collaboration with our Design Director, other Project Managers, and Production Director
  • Manage project workflow within and across projects: understand priorities, manage resources, have foresight, avert a crisis, ensure a smooth process and best environment for delivering great work
  • Motivate, support, and provide guidance to the designers/artists. Be hyper-aware of capacity and ensure the teams’ well-being
  • Maintain/refresh a strong network of talent and resources
  • You are an Oatly ambassador: show professionalism and respect when collaborating with outside partners
  • Be a good communicator (verbal & written) to everyone – from Global ECD to PA. Adopt, improve or create internal systems to keep project management at the top of its game
  • Actively support the ODMC goal of making our work “greener”. All production must contribute to Oatly’s sustainability goals
  • Here are the things we think you need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in practical experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of Project Management experience specific to print/design/digital
  • Experience hiring freelancer help and working with design vendors
  • Experience in managing a team of 7+ people
  • Excellent communication/collaboration skills and remain calm under pressure
  • Keen ability to see the big picture while understanding the details.
  • Willingness to work long days, sometimes outside of office hours
  • A network of resources within the print/design/textile/art industries.
  • Advanced computer/technical knowledge (Adobe Creative Suite a +)
  • Allowed to travel domestically and internationally (Covid vaccination required)
  • And here’s another list of qualities we think make a good Oatly team member:

  • You feel connected to our mission of encouraging health, sustainability, and transparency
  • You are a self-starter who doesn’t need direct supervision to motivate you for success – we believe strongly in building a culture of individual accountability and ownership and need partners that can embrace that mentality
  • You are ready to make your mark in a smaller, growing brand leveraging your experience to deliver amazing results and build an outstanding company
  • You have an entrepreneurial spirit in that you’re comfortable with ambiguity and are energized by the process of building something lasting from the ground up
  • You enjoy sharing your quirkiness and talents with your coworkers
  • Another bulleted list felt redundant, so we wrote this long sentence with all the ways we sweeten the deal to work with us, like providing flexible vacation for starters, really great benefits with 100% medical coverage, genuinely great coworkers who want to see the company and each other succeed, a start-up vibe with an established company history, and an employee discount to stock your fridge full of the best non-dairy alternative in the world.

The salary for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. Compensation may also include bonus, commission, or equity as applicable. For the state of Colorado only, our good faith estimate of the starting pay for this role is $95,000.

Oatly is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or veteran status.
