The Opportunity:

Culture Biosciences is hiring for a Senior Media Prep Technician to support our media operations team. We are looking for an individual who has media preparation experience in a small and medium scale (1L to 100L batches) environment. This is an excellent opportunity to utilize your experience to improve our operations. You will be given the chance to learn more about the inner workings of our cloud lab environment, gain valuable experience with operations, media prep, and process improvement initiatives. We’re motivated to hire those who are eager to learn and excited by the technology we have developed. 

What you’ll do:

  • Create and implement standard & scalable workflows for Media preparation. Including writing SOP’s and partnering with Technical Transfer and R&D teams. 
  • Prepare media per guidelines following established protocols and SOPs.
  • Provide leadership & mentorship to the team. May include supervising and coordinating operations, leading projects, promoting quality, safety and innovation.
  • Provide feedback to other departments in the company to improve general company systems.
  • Document your work consistently using appropriate data collection tools.
  • Track and prepare laboratory inventory & equipment needed for experiments, for example labeling and organizing sample containers. 
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including but not limited to autoclave, Cedex, YSI, spectrophotometer, microscope, pH meter, densitometer, and analytical scales.
  • Follow 6s principles to ensure lab operations are running smoothly and efficiently. 
  • Support laboratory safety via executing waste management and supporting PPE protocols.

About you:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree with 4+ year media prep experience. Chemistry degree preferred but not required.
  • Technical skills include a solid understanding of the science behind media formulation, the equipment and instruments being used
  • Experience with the following: aseptic technique, dilutions, media preparation/formulation, scaling up recipes and troubleshooting media recipes. 
  • Experience with lab equipment such as; autoclaves, pH meter, and pipettes. Experience validating new equipment is preferred but not required. 
  • You’re detail oriented, organized, dependable, and excited to work in a cutting-edge bioreactor laboratory.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational skills: has proven abilities to work effectively and efficiently in cross-functional teams
  • Outstanding leadership skills: demonstrated experience leading in a performance based, operational focused organization
  • Passion for continuous process improvement
  • Proficiency in Google Applications (Gmail, Documents, Spreadsheets) and Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs

Location & Schedule:

This is an on-site role in our South San Francisco facility. Schedule will typically be Monday – Friday from 9am-5pm. Occasional overtime may occur.
