Thank you both so much for the consultation. You were both so genuine and warm and just wonderful! I love how you were honest and up front, didn’t do any of the fake business crap at all and were down to earth. Thank you for listening and offering sage advice and not thinking it was a stupid idea! I appreciate it,” Vickie.

We’re super excited for Vickie.  Everything seems to be lined up for her to launch her own business bringing joy to people in need during these difficult times moving through the Covid pandemic.

Dear Paul and Bonnie,

Thank you so much for the career consultation yesterday over zoom. It was a pleasure to meet you both and to talk with you about job searching, this pandemic, what my experiences have been like with the current job market, and what I’m passionate about doing for a career.

It’s so funny that both of you within minutes picked up who I am at my core and saw that me trying to fit myself into a little corporate box just wasn’t working. It’s always been that way. Every single job I’ve ever had has been super creative and utilizes my strengths. Every company was hiring for a specific position and I was hired by them but not for the original job they had in mind. It was always a job that I ended up creating and tailoring specifically for me. That’s why when I spoke with the resume writing company I had to explain to them a few times that the roles that I’ve held are really unique because no one else has held those positions ever before or since. So it’s been difficult to define exactly WHAT and WHO I was/am when it comes to the job market right now with Broadway and Travel & Tourism industries shut down.

So for you to both say “You’re more of an entrepreneurial type than a corporate job type” was hitting the nail on the head. And to suggest starting my own business doing what I really want to do was like you were reading my mind! It was perfect! It was a year ago that I had started to draft what I planned to do. I had some ideas figured out and had some clients already. In January 2020 I did file the paperwork and “A Whole New World Entertainment LLC” was officially registered.

I had just gotten into the swing of things when Covid hit and we all got laid off. I didn’t do anything with my LLC because at the time the thought of going anywhere to entertain with anyone was out of the question, so I shelved it.

Anyway, today [after our call] I did some brainstorming and planning. And I’m excited! I spoke with my landlord, Ana, who is 75 years old. She is someone who is normally full of life and very outgoing. Recently she’s been down and just not doing that well. So I have been talking with her and making sure she’s okay. When I told her what I’m going to be doing I wasn’t sure what her reaction would be. But she lit up and said “Vickie, this is a wonderful idea! It’s very needed right now! Many people are lonely and isolated. They will want to have fun with you and your entertaining friends coming in via the computer and bringing joy even just for 45 minutes. You have to do this!”

I think I’m on the right track! The other thing that made me laugh is that I opened my mailbox and inside was a workbook from the AARP Foundation “Work for Yourself at 50+” that was from a webinar that I had signed up for but ended up not watching because the workbook never arrived back in early October. Of course it arrived today right after we spoke. How crazy.

Over the weekend I’m going to work on exactly what I want to do. Figure out what tools I’ll need. And sketch out the best way to go about starting! Last night I thought about it and I’m really excited. I haven’t been this excited about something in a long time. There is nothing like this out there. And there is a need for connecting people and entertaining people, especially now. Why shouldn’t I be the company that does that, right?

Here’s a clip of my stand up so you can see a bit of my personality onstage

And here’s my social media.

Thank you both so much for the consultation. You were both so genuine and warm and just wonderful! I love how you were honest and up front, didn’t do any of the fake business crap at all and were down to earth. Thank you for listening and offering sage advice and not thinking it was a stupid idea! I appreciate it.

I’ll keep you up to date with what I’m up to once I get a business plan going. I have a lot of ideas swirling around but I need to put them down on paper and make sure I am practical and have things in place so that I can move forward and really make this work. But I KNOW that I WILL do this. With Broadway Classroom, even though that wasn’t my own business, I took it from an idea to an over million dollar making off shoot with over 55,000 annual participants from around the world. Many of my clients I had from day one for 16 1/2 years. I’m excited to get to work on this and start to cultivate the same kinds of relationships with my own company now.

Looking forward to updating you on how I launch and what I’m up to. Thank you again and Happy Holidays to you both!

Sincerely,

Vickie Plummer
